Being where the culture is…

The Church can seem slow when responding to the culture. We have 2000 years of wisdom to draw upon, but so often it’s like we’re learning to crawl when the rest of the culture is already running. 

Which brings me to the fund drive InsideCatholic is doing this week…

Here at IC, we’re not only dedicated to engaging readers on relevant issues, but also making sure we’re reaching them in the first place. That’s why we made the risky decision to go online almost four years ago, before any other Catholic print publication.  

Since then, IC staff has worked very hard to bring quality content to you, free of charge. Although we rarely ask for it, we need your help now as we begin a new chapter in our 29 year history. Not only will we continue providing the excellent content you’ve come expect, but we’ll breach new territory…

Our editorial coverage will expand to include business and economics, and the ways Catholic Social Teaching interacts with and informs both. This means new writers and engaging articles.

Additionally, we’re going where readers are going… mobile devices. The other night, a mom friend of mine told me she bought a smart phone because it’s much easier to read articles and check email that way. With that in mind, IC will soon be unveiling a new “digital print” format to make our content more accessible through apps for mobile devices.

The staff of InsideCatholic has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to analyzing the trends in publishing. There’s a lot of excitement around here about the fact that we’ll soon be able to experience what we loved about print in a new print format.
