Friday is finally here, along with this morning’s link round-up:
- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke at a conference yesterday where she said she wants Catholics to “play a very major role” in immigration reform.
- Bill Maher on Christianity: “The problem with faith … is it kind of screws up your priorities. Your priorities shouldn’t be about saving your own (butt), which is the focus of Christianity.” Tony Rossi debunks Maher’s lazy assertion over at the National Catholic Register.
- Comedy Central is launching a new series, JC, about a 30-something Jesus “wanting to escape the shadow of his ‘powerful but apathetic father’ and live a regular life in New York City. In the show, God is preoccupied with playing video games while Christ, ‘the ultimate fish out of water,’ tries to adjust to life in the big city.” No word on how that Mohammed show is coming along.
- Father Jack McLean on “the Everyman of the horror genre“: zombies.
- Did you know that yesterday was the National Day of Prayer? Michael Brendan Dougherty did — and he calls it “probably the most milquetoast expression of ‘religion’ ever invented.”
- For all those who ever wanted Darth Vader as their co-pilot:
