Her Morning Elegance

Those of you reckless (or charitable) enough to check out my semi-regular Friday YouTube surfing will know by now that I have developed a fascination bordering on obsession when it comes to stop-motion short films. At root, I think my fascination stems from the fact that I have never had much patience, and the amount of patience on display in these little stop-motion gems is titanic. (And yet, there are folks out there with even more absurd levels of patience — though patience may not be the first descriptor that springs to mind when watching that MoMA “exhibit.”)

Today’s stop-motion feature is called “Her Morning Elegance;” a clever music video created for an Oren Lavie song of the same name:

I was particularly taken by the way the film uses ordinary bedclothes and pieces of clothing to create its outdoor objects. Very clever stuff. (Also, I’m beginning to notice that many of these clips have very similar-sounding music. There must be some connection between a “bouncy” musical score and the stop-motion elements and principles themselves. I must think further on this…)
