Time for some Friday morning linkage:
- “Sarah Palin and the mutual loathing society“: George Will says that, whatever raw deal she may have been handed by the media, Sarah Palin’s brand of populism isn’t a winning political movement.
- Over at True/Slant, Conor Friedersdorf rounds up his picks for the best journalism of 2009. The pieces on his list that I’ve read — including “Fatal Distraction,” “How American Health Care Killed My Father,” and “The Cocktail Renaissance” — were uniformly excellent, so I’m looking forward to tackling the rest. (And frankly, I think pretty much every episode of This American Life belongs on the list.)
- A pro-life club at the University of Victoria has had their funding stripped for “‘harassing’ female students with anti-abortion posters.”
- Making sense of the new scoring system for the Oscars — and why it might mean a more exciting “best picture” category on awards night.
So who’s watching the Olympics? What do people think of the first week so far?
