A cardinal says “proselytism is poison” and the Church is “not there to convert.” Bishop Robert Barron’s answer: “Excuse me, but…what?” Eric Sammons covers Cardinal Jean-Paul Vesco’s remarks to CathoBel, why they contradict Scripture, Vatican II, and every modern pope, and why Bishop Barron’s blunt Oct. 28 rebuke (“If I really thought that the Church does not exist to bring people to Christ, then I would resign and get an honest job”) is exactly what the faithful have been begging their shepherds for. Eric also gives an honest account of his own disagreements with Bishop Barron: the Ben Shapiro interview and the “dare we hope that all men be saved” view. He explains why Barron is getting bolder, why progressive Catholics can’t stand him, and why religious indifference is the deadliest crisis in the Church today.
